On August 26, 2002, a benefit fundraiser was held for Peace Officer David Ramirez, Jr. at the Ione, California. David is a Youth Correctional Counselor at Preston YCF. He has been with the California Youth Authority since 1994. In January 2002 he was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. the staff of Preston Youth Correctional Facility, with the National Latino Peace Officers Association - Sacramento Chapter, along several community and professional organizations came together to assist the Ramirez Family.
David is married and father of six children, ages 13 years to four months. He was born and raised in Placerville and is the youngest of eight children. He is loved and appreciated by his family, friends and co-workers.
